The Malayalam producer and distributor Gandhimathi Balan died at the age of 66 on Wednesday, April 10th, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, in a hospital. The talented filmmaker belongs to the 80s golden era and has banked many notable films, including Adaminte Variyellu, Panchavadi Palam, Moonnam Pakkam, Nombarathi Poovu, Sukhamo Devi, and Thoovanathumbikal. He was last produced by Joshiy Helmed, and P. Padmarajan penned the venture Ee Thanutha Veluppan Kalathu, which was released in 1990.

The veteran Malayalam filmmaker took his last breath in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, in a hospital where he was undergoing treatment for an age-related illness. Balan has produced around 33 films in his entire career; he has remained an inspiration for young filmmakers who took advice from veteran to make successful films. He was not only limited to filmmaking, but he also built a start-up company named Alibi, which focused on cyber forensics and defense solutions a few years ago. The headquarters of the company are situated in Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram.
