Pizza Movie Rating and Details
Baapofmovies.com Rating: 3.5/5
- Premier Date: April 3, 2026
- Streaming on: Hulu

Plot Overview: A Wild Psychedelic Adventure
“Pizza Movie” takes viewers on the journey of two college roommates, Jack (Gaten Matarazzo) and Montgomery (Sean Giambrone). They together make a questionable decision to consume old psychedelics. However, the decision is soon followed by a bizarre chain of events that is filled with hallucinations, strange side effects, and an urgent mission to find pizza.
Each phase of their trip is a unique concept, as it introduces a unique comedic twist. At one point, they are unable to lie, and it echoes themes similar to Liar Liar. In another outrageous sequence, using curse words causes their heads to “explode” in exaggerated.
Direction and Style: Fast, Witty, and Energetic
The film’s direction is very sharp, and it majorly stands out due to its dynamic and energetic style. The film is largely inspired by filmmakers like Edgar Wright, and it somewhat falls into the category of films such as Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. “Pizza Movie” uses whip-pans, crashzooms, and split-screen techniques to maintain a rapid pace.
Additionally, the film has self-aware humor reminiscent of Community. This blend of visual flair and meta-comedy works very well, as it gives viewers a distinct identity beyond typical stoner comedies.
Performances: A Mixed Bag
Gaten Matarazzo and Sean Giambrone have done a good job to deliver strong performances that bring charm and comedic timing to their roles. Their on-screen chemistry is the centre of the film, and they together make even the most absurd moments feel entertaining.
There are supporting characters that add to the chaos, especially Blake. His character is a humorous nod to Christoph Waltz’s iconic role in Inglourious Basterds.
However, not all performances land perfectly. Caleb Hearon was below par, as he is somewhat out of place, and his character lacks the comedic impact seen elsewhere in the film.
