Press Information Bureau’s Explanation About the Leak of Jana Nayagan
In an official statement released on X, the Press Information Bureau stated that the accusations against the Central Board of Film Certification were “baseless and misleading” since the CBFC had an extremely robust and secure method of dealing with films’ contents.
As per the statement released by the Press Information Bureau, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) follows a procedure called Key Delivery Message (KDM). This process ensures that only those who have the proper authorization are able to view the contents of the film. In addition, the content of the film is password-protected, and only the person who has made the film can access the film.
How Did the Leak Controversy Begin?
The controversy arose after certain clips as well as images were released on the internet, which were said to belong to Jana Nayagan. The videos and images immediately gained huge traction within a short time on all social media platforms, primarily X (formerly Twitter).
There were rumors going around that the leakage of these videos might have happened during the certification process. But in light of the statement issued by the PIB, this claim is no longer valid. The DCP of the movie was transferred to the applicant in Mumbai on March 17th.

Although there have been attempts at clearing up the air regarding the leakage, the event has again brought to light the loopholes present in the film industry in terms of digital security. As far as professionals know, video or image leaks may happen via unofficial channels such as the post-production process, private showings, or even distribution.
Considering that the movie has gained much popularity before its release, the issue of intellectual property has become a matter of great concern.
