Bhooth Bangla Censor Update: Akshay Kumar’s upcoming Bollywood horror-comedy “Bhooth Bangla” is gearing up to release on April 10, 2026, and the film is generating strong buzz ahead of its theatrical release. The film has recently completed its certification process with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and has received several edits. These changes, along with voluntary cuts by the makers, will result in a shorter and more refined version of the film.

CBFC Suggests Key Modifications
The CBFC has granted Bhooth Bangla a U/A 16+ rating. However, the committee, after watching the film, has instructed multiple changes to make sure the film meets content guidelines. The board feels that there are few objectionable words that are to be replaced at different points in the film. One such change occurs early in the narrative, while others were modified later.
The board also flagged a dialogue that portrayed women in a negative manner. The makers have asked for the replacement of this line to maintain sensitivity. Furthermore, disclaimers related to religious and superstitious elements were added as instructed by the CBFC.

Runtime Reduced by Over 10 Minutes
Initially, Bhooth Bangla had a runtime of nearly 2 hours and 55 minutes. However, after getting an opinion from the censor board on April 2, the makers voluntarily decided to trim the film further. They approached the CBFC again with a revised version, and it was approved on April 11.
There are a total of 63 scenes that were either shortened or trimmed. Most of the cuts were minor, but there were some cuts that were more significant. The biggest edit involved removing over a minute from a song sequence. As a result, the film’s duration has been reduced by approximately 10 minutes. It has been known that the final runtime of the film has been shortened at around 2 hours and 44 minutes. This tighter edit is important as it will enhance the film’s pacing and overall viewing experience.

Bhooth Bangla is scheduled to release on April 17, and the paid previews will start on April 16. After the success of Dhurandhar The Revenge, expectations from this film are quite high, as it marks the reunion of the iconic duo Priyadarshan & Akshay Kumar. Fans are especially excited to see Akshay Kumar return to the horror-comedy genre.
