The prequel movie, 2013’s ‘Queen,’ garnered huge acclaim for its iconic character Rani Mehra, played by Kangana Ranaut, who remains one of Bollywood’s most celebrated coming-of-age characters.
Box Office Expectations
It’s worth adding that Queen secured a Blockbuster title by grossing a solid ₹95.04 crore at the worldwide box office against only a ₹20 crore budget (as per Bollywood Hungama report). However, recently Ranaut has struggled to replicate that same box office impact through her latest outings. Despite this, film critics believe that she might come back strongly with this upcoming sequel.

The TV-radio host Siddharth R. Kannan, taking the X (formerly Twitter) handle, shared this development with a poster, which confirmed the film is locked to arrive on silver screens in 2027.

The Hindi comedy-drama sequel is being directed by the same director, Vikas Bahl; music is composed by Amit Trivedi; and lyrics are penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The film is scheduled to release in 2027, under the banners of Viacom18 Studios & Zee Studios.
