Yeon Ji-yeong (played by Im Yoon-ah) is the center of Bon Appetit, Your Majesty, Episode 1. He is a perfectionist French chef who is at the peak of her career and now suddenly finds herself mysteriously transported 500 years back. She has been taken to the Joseon dynasty, and now she has to survive in a royal kitchen. And here she undergoes many challenges: the first challenge is to cook fusion royal dishes for King Lee Heon (Lee Chae-min), who is known as both the realm’s worst tyrant and best gourmet.
As the king has a very sharp taste, every meal cooked should be up to the mark to match his expectations. As the story moves forward, Yeon Ji-yeong blends her French culinary techniques with traditional Joseon flavors. And this fuels a complex relationship between chef and king, which has humor and romance.
