Detective Sherdil Plot Summary
Detective Sherdil (Daljit Dosanjh) investigates the mysterious assassination of Indian-origin telecom tycoon in Budapest Pankaj Bhatti (Pankaj Bhatti), who is a rich businessman with a company worth 60 billion euros, and he was shot by a biker on a deserted highway, later blowing up his car. There are five main suspects from his family: his wife Rajeshwari (Ratna Pathak Shah), whose relationship is not good with her husband; second, his son Angad (Sumeet Vyas); third, his deaf daughter Shanti (Banita Sandhu); fourth, his daughter’s boyfriend Purvak (Arjun Tanwar), who is also deaf; and fifth, his foreigner daughter-in-law Elizabeth (Sarah Barlondo).
But the main twist is revealed after the shocking will of Pankaj Bhatti is out. He puts 10% of his property to a dog named Rabbit, another 10% to Rajeshwari’s brother Bodhi (Chunky Panday), and the remaining 80% to Purvak. Who is the killer of Pankaj Bhatti? Why did Pankaj Bhatti willed most of the property to his daughter’s boyfriend Purvak (Arjun Tanwar)?
Detective Sherdil Review
Ravi Chhabriya and Ali Abbas Zafar fail to hold the viewers with their storyline, which could have been made far better, alongside Sagar Bajaj and Ali Abbas Zafar’s screenplay, which also leaves so many loopholes, but not enough has been done to cover these negative sides. Ravi Chhabriya’s direction was decent; he tried quite well to present the characters without confusion, which also worked well. Simultaneously, Diljit Dosanjh’s portrayal of Detective Sherdil & Natasha’s few parts are quite well crafted.
A few sequences in the story look odd, like Europe’s one of the biggest business tycoons, Pankaj Bhatti, was killed very easily, which shows a lack of research in writing and is unconvincing. Concurrently, the one and only person who can solve this tricky case is Detective Sherdil, but his gesture doesn’t show any pressure, which at least indicates the importance of the murder.
The film is unable to offer any crucial song, which can be remembered for a long time. Joel Crasto’s BGM (Background Music) is one of the most crucial parts of the film, which successfully establishes the environment. The special mention required is the mouth organ theme, which makes the detective role more catchy. Marcin Laskawiec’s cinematography is well handled; Ravi Chhabriya’s editing could have been better; special mention to the initial few scenes, which can be improved far better.
Baap of Movies Verdict on Detective Sherdil
Overall, it’s a decent mysterious comedy-thrilling drama, which you can watch once or can be avoided. The script is the key negative side of the film, but Diljit Dosanjh’s presence and his noteworthy moments tried hard to bring up the film.
