AKA Season 1 Plot
Abul Kalam Azad, also known as A.K.A. (played by Afran Nisho), dreamed of becoming a rockstar. However, his aspirations were constantly crushed as he was discouraged and insulted several times by his close ones and the very people he expected support from. He also tried to survive as a courier boy, but his passion for becoming a musician led to rejection and abandonment. He accidentally kills a criminal and becomes an online sensation. Now he sheds his silence in life and takes the ultimate step: keep on targeting bad people for seeking more praise; somewhere he feels he is completing his passion, once longed for through music.
The people started comparing him with Legendary A.K.A., a mysterious figure from the late 1990s who was well known for punishing the guilty. Abul Kalam Azad’s piercing eyes reveal the storm within—rage, frustration, and an endless inner conflict. The first season left us with the question, who is the late 90s AKA? Is there any connection with Nisho’s portrayal?
HoiChoi’s AKA Season 1 Review: Afran Nisho’s rare brutal look
The seven-episode show consists of the gripping narrative that masterfully blends emotion, action, and raw brutality. The director and writer Vicky Zahed once again proves why he has earned widespread acclaim for his previous works, and this also reflects on his latest work. His crafting with a limited budget is nothing short of remarkable and inspired the Bangladeshi moviemakers.
The versatile Afran Nisho is one of the finest actors from the Bangladeshi industry, and this time he also left his mark as a psychological killer and stunned the viewers with his rough portrayals. Alongside the other casts, Masuma Rahman Nabila, Imtiaz Barshon, Tajzi Syeda, and the rest of the cast deliver strong performances that collectively elevate the viewing experience.
Bidrohi Dipon’s cinematography and Aurnob Hasnat’s editing are also impactful. One of the crucial things of the show is the BGM (background score), which was delivered by the talented Aurnob Hasnat. The powerful BGM amplifies the intensity of each scene, taking the viewers’ experience to an entirely new level.
If we spotlight the negative aspects of the show, Vicky Zahed’s writing plot doesn’t unveil much depth in the inaugural season. A bit more revelation could have heightened the suspense and kept the viewers anticipating the next season.

Baap of Movies Verdict
Afran Nisho and others starring in AKA Season 1 is a gritty psychological thriller that offers a perfect mixture of action, emotion, and suspense with a uniquely Bangladeshi flavor. The stellar Afran Nisho’s shining performance combined with Vicky Zahed’s compelling direction makes it one of the must-watch Bangladeshi shows in 2025 so far. Despite minor shortcomings in the writing, the series creates enough hype for next season.
