Housefull 5 Plot Summary
The plot of the comic caper set on a luxury cruise revolves around the mysterious murder of the billionaire and the 7th richest person in the United Kingdom, Ranjeet Dobriyal (Ranjeet), who joined this luxurious cruise to celebrate his 100th birthday with executives of his company, CEO and his son Dev (Fardeen Khan), CFO Maya (Chitrangda Singh), COO Bedi (Dino Morea), and CMO Shiraz (Shreyas Talpade), alongside the cruise handlers Aakhri Pasta (Chunky Panday) and officer in charge Batuk Patel (Johny Lever) also present.
After the unexpected murder, the question is raised: who is the legatee of his huge wealth? His lawyer, Lucy (Soundarya Sharma), arrives and discloses Ranjeet has bequeathed all his wealth in the name of his son Jolly, from his first wife, Shakuntala Devi (Archana Puran Singh). But the story takes a witty turn when 3 different Jolly (Jolly 1, a.k.a. Jalabuddin, played by Riteish Deshmukh; Jolly 2, a.k.a. Jalbhushan, played by Abhishek Bachchan; and Jolly 3, a.k.a. Julius, played by Akshay Kumar) arrived there and claimed the real legate of this wealth. Who is the real Jolly? How will the real Jolly be recognised? Who is Dr Aman Joshi (Akashdeep Sabir), and why was he also murdered?
Housefull 5 Hindi Movie Review
The talented director Tarun Mansukhani attempted it for the first time in the Housefull franchise, and it was his 3rd directorial film in his career, but he succeeded in infusing fresh energy into the franchise and escalating the franchise value far ahead. He also left a mark for holding the essence that fans have loved over the years. Sajid Nadiadwala’s plot was well written, and Nadiadwala, Farhad Samji & Tarun Mansukhani’s screenplay works well, except for a few sequences in post-interval could’ve been tighter.
The versatile Akshay Kumar returns in his most appealing genre, alongside another dynamic, Riteish Deshmukh, who collaboratively did an outstanding job in the film; both of them injected soul into the film. Alongside, most of the supporting characters are well portrayed, but few are underutilized in terms of their potential (Shreyas Talpade, Nikitin Dheer and Akashdeep Sabir).
The songs like ‘Laal Pari’, ‘Dil E Nadaan’ and ‘Qayamat’ are well; Julis Packiam’s background music is fantastic, well-matched with the circumstances. Few jokes in the second half feel dated and forced, and Rameshwar S. Bhagat’s editing could have been better.
Baap of Movies Verdict on Housefull 5
Overall, Housefull 5 is bigger, louder, and crazier than the past instalments, packed with humour, turns, and twists. Among the huge star-studded cast are Nana Patekar, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Fardeen Khan, Johny Lever, and Chunky Panday, who deliver standout performances, alongside Ranjeet, who makes his arrival on the silver screens after a long hiatus, which makes it more special. If you keep your logic out of the theatres, this will be a must-watch entertainer.
