Aditya Chopra directed and wrote the all-time mega-blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge A.K.A. DDLJ‘s iconic track “Tujhe Dekha Toh,” sung by the legends Kumar Sanu and Lata Mangeshkar, loved by all across the globe, was recently voted the U.K.’s favorite 90s Bollywood song by the BBC. Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s chemistry created magic in the film, alongside the evergreen track from the film, which surpasses all the milestones in India; even across the border, it also wines hearts.

The BBC’s Asian Network has invited 50 Contender to choose the ultimate 90s most-loved track. The panel was made up of the station’s respected presenters, Haroon Rashid, Nikita Kanda, Gagan Grewal, and Nadia Ali, as well as industry experts Asim Burney, Amrita Tanna, and Karan Pangali, who were chosen to create the shortlist.
The shortlisted tracks also included Abhijeet Sung “Ole Ole” from the film Yeh Dillagi, Hariharan, Alka Yagnik sung “Bahon Ke Darmiyan” from Khamoshi: The Musical, and others, but finally, the longest-running film in the history of Indian cinema, DDLJ’s track “Tujhe Dekha Toh,” with vocals by Kumar Sanu and Lata Mangeshkar, received the most votes.

1995’s blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, also lovingly called DDLJ, was helmed and penned by the legend Aditya Chopra. Yash Chopra produced the film, with cinematography handled by Manmohan Singh and music composed by Jatin-Lalit. Features of the film are SRK and Kajol in the key roles, alongside Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal, Satish Shah, Achala Sachdev, and others. The Hindi musical romance film was released in theaters on October 20, 1995, under the banner of Yash Raj Films.
