John Abraham fronted Vedaa censor cuts: Nikkhil Advani‘s much-anticipated Hindi action drama “Vedaa” is gearing up to hit theatres on August 15th, coincidentally on the occasion of Independence Day. The stars of the film are John Abraham and Munjya actress Sharvari in the prominent roles, alongside Abhishek Banerjee and Tamannaah Bhatia to play supporting roles in the film. The action drama makers two weeks earlier posted an official statement that they were yet to get approval from the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification), despite applying for it in advance.
According to the Bollywood Hungama latest report, after watching by the Examining Committee (EC) at the end of June, it was sent to the Revising Committee (RC), and they watched it by July 29 and ordered 9.14 minutes of deletion, along with a blurry few visuals of the tearing of currency notes.

The report added that the beginning 1.16-minute reworked disclaimer asked to add a voiceover. A dialogue in the film contains derogatory language over women and social identity ordered to be modified, followed by a 2.16-minute hanging sequence that was informed to be choped. During a portion of mentioning Jodhpur High Court, the ‘Jodhpur‘ word was muted, and violence in the court areas was asked to decrease by 30%. With all these cuts, there were a total of 6.15 minutes of runtime trimmed.
Rest cut was made in a scene, where a character listed an audio track of Sanskrit shlokas on a mobile phone, which was trimmed by the censor, followed by a few slangs that were asked to be trimmed, and one visual scene was blour, showing the tearing of currency notes and their pieces.
John Abraham and Sharvari fronted Vedaa Receives U/A certificate from CBFC
After applying all the instructions in the action drama, CBFC cleared it for release and awarded a U/A certificate on August 6th, 9 days prior to the grand theatrical release. It also received 150 minutes (2 hours and 30 minutes) of big-screen runtime.
