Plot Overview
The movie takes us to Inspector Kaalidas, who is played by Bharath. He finds himself caught in a complex case of a missing girl. The prime suspect in this case is a lawyer who is named Stephen that is played by Ajay Karthi.
The movie starts with a seemingly unrelated scene of a double murder, which is supposed to lay down the premise for a complex thriller. But instead, the movie jumps from one scene to another, making it hard to remain invested in the story. The investigation is ongoing, and more characters and conflicts are being added to the case, including gang wars and personal vendettas, which only makes things more confusing.
What Works
Bharath has delivered an honest performance as Inspector Kaalidas. He has added a sense of realism to his character despite the poor script. The background score, especially in the climax, tries to elevate the emotional quotient of the movie, though not entirely successfully.

What Doesn’t Work
The biggest drawback of the movie is its poor screenplay. The movie’s narrative is stretched unnecessarily with many subplots that do not contribute much to the movie’s storyline. The movie’s pace is slow, especially in the second half.
The character development is another major drawback of the movie. The major characters in the movie, including Stephen, lack clarity. The behavior of police officials, especially Assistant Commissioner Vaishnavi, played by Bhavani Sre, is frustrating at times. Their approach to the case is full of loopholes.
In addition to that, there are avoidable cinematic clichés that are evident in the film. There are scenes that are supposed to be thrilling or suspenseful, yet they are poorly executed.
Comparison with the First Part
The first Kaalidas was a success due to its simplicity. It seems like the sequel tries to do too much, but at the end, it somehow loses the essence that made it so engaging. Unlike the first installment, which had a straightforward plot, Kaalidas 2 is all over the place and too complicated.
Final Verdict
All in all, it is evident that although the film had the potential to be a thrilling crime thriller, it failed to deliver. Although it has a thrilling climax twist, it is not enough to make up for all the shortcomings.
Kaalidas 2 is a thriller that, although a bit engaging, may prove to be a tedious journey for many. However, if you are a fan of crime thrillers, then you may find it worth your time.
