Kathal Movie Review: Kathal is an Indian Hindi-language mystery drama movie released on May 19, 2023, on Netflix, based on a stolen Jackfruit mystery from the MLA house. This film was made under the direction of Yashowardhan Mishra and penned by Ashok Mishra and Yashowardhan Mishra. And it’s produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Guneet Monga, and Achin Jain.

Kathal Movie Plot
Kathal’s story revolves around a missing jackfruit (Kathal). In north India, a small town named Moba is where the local MLA files a report about two 15-kg missing Kathals from his garden. And the MLA put pressure on the police to solve it. Mahima Basot (Sanya), who started the investigation on this case, and some constables helped her, including her boyfriend Saurabh Dwivedi (Anant). And the style of Mahima Basot in how she solves the case is very interesting.

As a viewer, if I can tell one thing about this film, So that it is just a one-time-watch film. After we saw the trailer, we expected that this film would be full of comedy and drama. The director tried to give us a social massage with a new style. In terms of the concept, A Jackfruit Mystery is a very recent addition to the troupe. And it can sometimes really entertain you.
The director played a mind-blowing game in this film; he just tilted the movie name ‘Kathal,” but inside the story was moving and giving us so many social messages, while attempting to draw attention to the caste system and the way the world views women. Even if she chooses to wear jeans, the patriarchy’s requirement that men always dominate women makes the journey through all of this difficult. But the director didn’t focus more on all these topics.
Kathal Star Performance
Sanya Malhotra played the lead role in this film, and she really showed her talent and the way of the police officer. Some times it gives you the feeling of the recently released Amazon Prime Dahaad, Sonakshi Sinha’s as a police officer. While Sanya Malhotra is doing her job, on the other hand, she also loves her junior constable in his department, but there are so many complexities, and Malhotra carries them well.
Rajpal Yadav played the role of a TV reporter who wanted to always have trending news and make himself a most popular journalist. He also gave his best performance, but in this film, he can’t more entertain the audience with his dialogue and acting; sometimes you will feel that he is doing forced comedy. Vijay Raaz played a local MLA role, and the film shows Story moving around his missing two jackfruits from his garden. He also performed very well. On the other hand, he also handles his family members.
Verdict
Regarding Kathal, the last word is that this film is okay to watch once. Because the concept is really unique and fresh about missing jackfruits, the film turned into other relevant topics like crime and thriller.
