Landman Season 2 Review: After a good season 1, Landman Season 2 premiered on November 16, 2025, and it has been gaining a lot of attention from the fans. Taylor Sheridan pushed the drama into richer, riskier terrain. Landman Season 2 has Billy Bob Thornton as the lead of the show once again, and with the second season, we are taken closer to greatness.
A Stronger, Sharper Return for the Oil Drama
The first season of Landman showed promise, which was powered by Thornton’s cranky charm as oil-industry fixer Tommy Norris. And Season 2 is definitely an update, as it immediately feels more confident. Sam Elliott’s arrival as Tommy’s tough father was much needed because it added a three-generation family depth that strengthened the emotional foundation. His stubborn and striking presence has fueled the powerful conflicts ahead in season 2.
After billionaire Monty Miller’s death, Tommy has now stepped into full leadership at M-Tex. Moreover, he is armed with razor-sharp one-liners like, “Every dollar you ever made with Monty, I pumped it out of the ground.” Thornton showed his class as he delivered them with trademark grit and gave the season its signature swagger.
Cooper Norris Takes Center Stage
Jacob Lofland’s performance as Cooper is smooth. Cooper is shown as Tommy’s resilient son. Cooper was the only survivor of the last season, and his trauma and recovery were standout elements in the show. Season 2 expands his arc. It feels very deliberate to add layers of family tensions and personal dilemmas. His storyline is very well crafted, as it captures the real danger and emotional burden of the oilfields more authentically than ever.
The Women of Landman Finally Get Their Due
Landman Season 2 has successfully handled the criticism of Season 1. Landman Season 1 received a lot of backlash due to its treatment of female characters. In season 2, Sheridan course-corrects. Demi Moore’s character gets an actual plot, and it is centred on saving her late husband’s company from hungry corporate predators. Angela (Ali Larter) and Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) also receive meaningful scenes. The dinner-table confrontation where we see Angela finally voicing her frustrations with Tommy is one of the highlights.
Ainsley awkwardly navigating a college interview is one of the funniest moments. It delivers the kind of humor the series originally aimed for. These small shifts were necessary, as they made the story feel more balanced and grounded.

Sam Elliott Steals the Spotlight
Sam Elliott’s T.L. Norris is the most exciting addition to the cast of Landman Season 2. His dry wit and world-weary frustration inject much-needed humor and heart into the show. However, the start of episode 1 didn’t really fully unpack his history with Tommy. We hope that the makers have saved it for further episodes.
Too Many Moving Parts? A Fair Concern
Any honest Landman Season 2 review must note the show’s biggest flaw: overcrowding. Sheridan tried something unique by introducing multiple new plotlines in the form of a lawsuit over offshore drilling mysteries around M-Tex finances and the return of Andy Garcia’s villain. With so many subplots developing, it will be interesting to see how the next episodes will be able to handle it.
Final Verdict
All in all, from episode 1, Landman Season 2 definitely feels like an update over the first season. However, due to the multiple developing subplots, it will be a huge challenge for the makers to justify it in the next episode. With that being said, Landman Season 2 Episode 2 will be released on November 23, 2025, and it will have a weekly release till the 10th episode.
