Ranbir Kapoor Opens Up About ‘Love & War’ Postponement
Ranbir clarified that Love & War is delayed “for now”, and he also mentioned the team is prioritizing the scale and technical demands of the film. Earlier, it was planned that the film would have a Christmas 2025 release, but the project was eventually shifted to March 2026 and then to August 2026. According to recent reports, the period romance is now tentatively being eyed for a 2027 release window.
Many industry sources have suggested that a substantial portion of the shoot is still pending. Ranbir also confirmed that his other major release, Ramayana: Part One, is progressing as planned, and it is all set and ready to arrive in theatres during Diwali 2026.
Love & War Story, Star Cast And Period Setting
Apart from Ranbir, Love & War has an impressive cast of Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in pivotal roles. The film is set against the backdrop of the 1960s, and it has been hyped as a grand period romance.
The narrative is set to revolve around an emotionally charged love triangle that will involve two Indian Air Force pilots. Interestingly, the storyline is believed to be an homage to the classic Hindi film Sangam.

Ranbir also revealed that he would be open to returning for a sequel to ‘Rockstar‘ only when the director, Imtiaz Ali, comes up with a compelling script. He also fondly spoke about the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. He called its ending perfect and hinted that a similar romantic entertainer could be created in the future.
Adding fuel to industry chatter, Ranbir also addressed the most famous rumours about a possible reunion with Deepika Padukone in an upcoming film by Ayan Mukerji. The film is reported to be inspired by the legendary pairing of Raj Kapoor and Nargis from the classic Chori Chori.
All in all, Love & War has been postponed, but there are several high-profile projects lined up, and Ranbir Kapoor looks ready to give one of the most closely followed films in Indian cinema.
