Sankalp Web Series Review (2026): The political thriller ‘Sankalp‘ has premiered, and it attempts to explore the complex world of power, loyalty, and political manipulation. Plot Overview
The story of Sankalp centres around Kanhaiyala, who is portrayed by Nana Patekar, and he is shown as a powerful and enigmatic man who runs a prestigious institution called ‘Gurukul’ from his grand residence in Patna. The institute trains exceptionally bright students. These students later move to Kanhaiyalal’s Chanakya Coaching Centre in Delhi.
His former students have now become influential figures in the police force, and it includes Inspector Aditya Verma, played by Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub; Inspector Vasudev Ranjan; and Delhi Police DCP Parveen Sheikh, portrayed by Kubbra Sait. They admire Kanhaiyalal deeply, and they are willing to go to great lengths just to follow his wishes.
The narrative is smooth, and it soon takes a dramatic turn, especially when Delhi prepares for a major election. Chief Minister Prashant Singh is played by Sanjay Kapoor, and he finds himself dealing with political alliances and internal conflicts. Soon, he discovers that there are several obstacles in his political journey that are secretly being orchestrated by Kanhaiyalal.
The situation becomes even more intense when Aditya accidentally shoots his mentor. This shocking incident was very important, and it created a rift between teacher and student and opened the door for political forces to exploit the conflict. This is then followed by a tense battle involving power, revenge, and moral dilemmas.
Direction and Storytelling
Director Prakash Jha has done well to bring his trademark political storytelling style to Sankalp. Prakash Jha, like his earlier projects, takes the viewers to rooted characters and real-world political dynamics. The idea of a mastermind strategically places loyal followers in powerful positions.

Performances
The biggest strength of Sankalp is its cast. Nana Patekar has done well, as he has shown his class to give a commanding performance as Kanhaiyalal. He balances authority, intelligence, and emotional complexity.
Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub was very good, as he is seen in the challenging role of a conflicted police officer who is torn between loyalty and duty. Kubbra Sait delivered a controlled and effective performance, but his character lacked the much-needed depth.
Meanwhile, Neeraj Kabi stands out with a powerful and nuanced portrayal of a political strategist and adds much-needed depth and intensity to the political narrative.
What Works in Sankalp
There are several aspects of the series that work in its favor. The central storyline about power, loyalty, and political manipulation is very promising, and it offers plenty of dramatic possibilities. The performances by Nana Patekar and Neeraj Kabi are consistently strong, and it manages to keep the narrative engaging.
The show also benefits from its rooted storytelling style. There are some emotional and dramatic scenes in Sankalp that are handled well, and it leaves a lasting impression.
What Doesn’t Work
Sankalp had a very strong premise, but the series suffers from several weaknesses. The most noticeable issue is its excessive length. Sankalp has nearly eight hours of runtime, but the narrative often feels stretched and loses momentum in several episodes. The climax feels underwhelming, and it fails to deliver the powerful conclusion.
