Sarzameen Plot Summary
Vijay Menon (Prithviraj Sukumaran) is a soldier posted on the Kashmir frontier, who puts his country first above all else in the world. He is staying with his family: wife, Meher (Kajol), and son, Harman (Ibrahim Ali Khan), who is too committed to his duty and country. However, Harman, who struggles with a stammer, constantly feels deprived of his father’s affection despite his earnest efforts. In search of connection and acceptance, he made friendship with Shoaib (Mihir Ahuja), unaware he is a part of a terrorist organization.
One fateful night, Harman is kidnapped by Shoaib; despite Vijay’s desperate attempts to rescue him, he fails to chase the culprit. Later, Vijay receives a compromising call, but Vijay is unwilling to betray his country, even for his son. What will happen next will keep you on the edge of your seat. How will Harman return? Will he still embrace his father’s unshakeable belief in putting the nation first?”
Sarzameen Movie Review
Sarzameen masterfully explores the emotional turmoil of a father torn between his duty and his family. His son returns after 8 years, having been captured, but you think it over, but not yet. Now he becomes a terror, but the story takes a twist later; you’re going to see it in the movie.
Whenever we see an Indian soldier in the movie, we expect some heroism—defusing bombs or taking down terrorists—but it is difficult to balance the storyline of Sarzameen, where you get two things at the same time: love for his country and balance with his family. Also, when he tries to spend time with his family, his country’s duty comes over every time, over everything. What unfolds is a powerful and moving story that leaves a lasting impact.
Aayush Soni’s rough and impactful storyline doesn’t waste a single moment with unnecessary subplots, and Kayoze Irani’s direction is sharp and compelling, successfully bringing out the emotional depth of the story. Kamaljeet Negi’s cinematography is well captured, especially the breathtaking landscapes of Kashmir, alongside skillfully amplifying the rising tension.
If we have a look at the negative aspects, nowadays, originality often feels missing in films of this genre. Sarzameen tends to follow a familiar narrative we’ve seen many times before, yet few sequences look predictable.
Baap of Movies Verdict on Sarzameen
Sarzameen is an engaging patriotic thriller that offers a strong punch of action and emotion, with impressive performances by the entire star-studded cast. If you love to watch sensitive content, it will meet your expectations and engage you from the beginning to the end.
