Shodha Web Series Review: The latest Kannada thriller is currently streaming live on ZEE5 from 29th August, 2025 onwards, and it takes us on a 6-episode ride of suspense, betrayal, and mystery. However, the attempt feels to fall short, as it ends up delivering a predictable narrative with a few standout scenes. The show, directed by Sunil Mysuru and written by Suhas Navarathna & Pawan Kumar, is inspired by the play “Catch Me If You Can“. However, there are a few flaws that keep it far from being as clever as its source material suggests. In this Shodha web series review, we are going to discuss everything good and bad about the show.

Shodha Plot Overview
Shodha revolves around Rohit (Pawan Kumar). Rohit is a hotshot lawyer from the Madikeri region, and his life spirals out of control when his wife, Meera (Siri Ravikumar), goes missing. Rohit approaches Inspector Bhairava (Arun Sagar) for his missing wife, and this sets off a series of unexpected events.
As soon as Meera reappears, Rohit is of the belief that the woman claiming to be his wife is an impostor. His paranoia continues to deepen as it creates a tense conflict between family, law enforcement, and his own sanity. On the other hand, Meera’s sister Aditi (Anusha Ranganath) gets entangled in the drama, and Bhairava is seen struggling to separate fact from manipulation.
The series gives us the 1792 Kodagu folklore flashback with an aim to add depth but often confuses the narrative instead of enhancing it.
Shodha Web Series Review
Shodha’s attempt to touch on a psychological thriller filled with lies, deception, and identity crises failed miserably. The first two episodes are amazing, and they set up an engaging premise, but as the show went on, the lack of twists makes the second half predictable. If you are a casual viewer, then Shodha delivers adequate entertainment; however, if you are expecting edge-of-the-seat thrills, you might be disappointed.
What Works in Shodha
- Engaging Performances: Pawan Kumar aced the role of Rohit’s descent into paranoia, and Siri Ravikumar wasn’t anything less as she adds emotional weight to Meera’s struggles. Arun Sagar was also decent in his no-nonsense role of the cop Bhairava, and he has shown his sharp screen presence.
- Short Episodes: The pacing of the episodes is decent; every 6 episodes is about 20 minutes, which makes it easy to binge.
- Cinematic Approach: The show feels like a movie that is split into six parts, and this helps in maintaining some suspense and makes it visually appealing.
Where Shodha Falls Short

The most highlighted drawback in the Shodha web series review is its predictable storytelling. The mystery is predictable, and it unveils too early, and with the key revelations dropping by the third episode, it makes the rest of the show.
The supporting characters lack depth, and that often leaves the viewers disconnected from their struggles.
The Kodagu folklore subplot was a good attempt, but it felt ambitious, and it was underutilized and unnecessary.
The show was promoted as a thriller, but the tension plateaus midway, and this made the finale feel underwhelming.

Audience Reaction to Shodha
Audiences are divided on the series in terms of their views. Few viewers find the show worthy thanks to its compact runtime and Pawan Kumar’s performance. However, many viewers are criticising the show in Shodha’s review because of the predictable plot and underdeveloped characters. Social media reactions are not common, but they show a split between those who found it a “quick weekend binge” and those who felt it lacked depth.
Baap of Movies Verdict
All in all, in this Shodha review, we found that the show is a moderately engaging thriller, which, backed by some strong performances, however, fails to deliver the unexpected twists. Lastly, if you’re looking for a short, binge-worthy mystery show, then Shodha on ZEE5 can be your partner this weekend.
