Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari Storyline
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari takes us around Sunny (Varun Dhawan), who is left heartbroken after his girlfriend Ananya (Sanya Malhotra) has left him due to parental pressure and agrees to marry Vikram (Rohit Saraf). Interestingly, Vikram leaves behind Tulsi (Janhvi Kapoor), and she faces a similar heartbreak. Now, to get rid of these heartbreaks, Sunny and Tulsi join hands to crash the wedding of their exes and reclaim lost love.
What’s the story? It is very childish, and so is the film. The storytelling is very poor, and thanks to the first half, the film becomes even more unbearable. The second half is ok, but it is not able to pick up the downgrade of the first half.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is somewhat saved from the best performances, all thanks to the committed performances from cast members like Manish Paul and Rohit Saraf. Rohit Saraf is the highlight of the movie, as he brought his natural charm and has aced every scene in which he featured. Manish Paul, in his role as a wedding planner, was also perfect, as he added those quirky moments and humour.
Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor were average, as there were a few good and a few bad points in their chemistry. The biggest letdown of the movie is Sanya Malhotra. She came forward as an irritating character who would bite your ears every time she came.
Music and Technical Aspects
The music album of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari worked very well, thanks to the contributions from Tanishk Bagchi, Sachet–Parampara, Guru Randhawa, Rony Ajnali, Gill Machhrai, and A.P.S. Songs like Panwaadi stand out and will provide you with relief in the frustrating, messed-up story. The editing by Manan Sagar and Charu Shree Roy looks chaotic, and it could have been sharper because several scenes feel overstretched. Cinematography is bright and colorful, and this complements the film’s festive wedding scenery.
What Works and What Doesn’t
What works in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is Rohit Saraf’s epic display, Varun’s effortless comic timing, and Manish Paul’s witty one-liners. The film also raises a very relevant theme, which takes us to the concept of love versus family pressure.
However, what doesn’t work is the lack of depth in family characters, very awkward storytelling, and the confused identity between being a romance and a family drama. The film tried to reach Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani, but this film fails to give families equal weight in shaping the central love story.
