Tere Ishq Mein Storyline
The story takes us to Shankar Gurukkal (Dhanush), who is the notorious, hot-headed president of DUSU. His violent tendencies make him feared across campus. On the other hand, Mukti Behniwal (Kriti Sanon) is a PhD student whose thesis argues that even the most violent men can be transformed with the right psychological approach.
Her theory creates havoc, and it gets tested when Shankar bursts into her presentation and creates a chaotic scene. The professors instantly dismiss her idea. However, Mukti is confident about the idea, and she challenges them and volunteers to reform Shankar herself. Shankar was reluctant at first, but eventually he allowed her into his world. It started as an academic experiment that soon turned into a powerful, emotionally messy romance. As time passes, Shankar softens, Mukti completes her thesis, and the relationship appears picture-perfect until reality strikes.
The story then jumps 7 years ahead, and eventually fate brings them face-to-face again. This takes us to a darker, more complicated chapter that is filled with obsession, regret, and unresolved trauma.

Direction and Screenplay: Strong Drama, Weak Second Half
Himanshu Sharma and Neeraj Yadav have done magic as they crafted a screenplay that starts grippingly and eventually builds excellent emotional tension. The first half takes us to:

Kriti Sanon as Mukti
This is one of Kriti’s most layered portrayals. She has shown her class as she presents the right balance of intelligence, compassion, inner conflict, and emotional restraint. She stands tall in a narrative that could have easily been overshadowed by Dhanush.
