She portrays the character of Shalini Unnikrishnan, a Malayali nurse who becomes a casualty of ‘love jihad‘, recasts Islam, and joins the Pakistani ISIS before departing for prison in Afghanistan.

Sudipto Sen caused a lot of controversy with the release of its trailer. Film critics have drawn parallels to The Kashmir Files and exclaimed that the film is “false propaganda,” blasting the joint euphemisms.

Apart from this, Although the authorities of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have promulgated the film ‘The Kerala Story’ tax-free in their specific states, on the other hand, the film got banned in West Bengal after being announced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to avoid violence in Bengal.
