Tumbbad 2 Announces by the lead Sohum Shah: Sohum Shah, who led and co-produced 2018’s critically acclaimed folk-horror film “Tumbbad,” was re-released on the big screens again on September 13th, after around 6 years of the first release (12 October 2018). Including Sohum, the film also features Harsh K, Jyoti Malshe, Rudra Soni, and others and is helmed by Rahi Anil Barve.
Initially, the film failed to gain much popularity, but over the years it gained demand; as effect we have seen, it generated an impressive Rs 1.65 Cr net on the opening day of the re-release, which secured an even higher score than a similar day release of Kareena Kapoor Khan’s crime thriller The Buckingham Murders (Rs 1.62 crore). Following the hype, makers now announced the sequel with an inaugural announcement video.

On 14th September 2024, makers announced the second installment with an announcement video, which hinted at a more intense and dark world of greed and ancient myths, aiming to hit theatres in 2026.

The first installment was helmed by Rahi Anil Barve, backed by lead Sohum Shah himself, alongside Aanand L. Rai, Anand Gandhi, Mukesh Shah, and Amita Shah. Pankaj Kumar handled the cinematography, edited by Sanyukta Kaza, Ajay-Atul composed the music, and the most crucial part of the film BGM (Background Music) was delivered by Jesper Kyd.
