Ustaad Bhagat Singh Plot Overview
The film is about the story of Chandrasekhar Rao, played by K. S. Ravikumar, who becomes the chief minister. In his initial days, he takes an orphan child, who later becomes the character Ustaad Bhagat Singh, played by Pawan Kalyan.
The story takes a new turn with an attack on the CM. This leads to a bigger conspiracy involving a villain, Nalla Nagappa. The film is about Bhagat Singh’s journey as he faces all these challenges and finds the truth, saving everyone around him.
The story is interesting, although it follows all the common elements and becomes predictable.
Cast Performances
Pawan Kalyan plays the role of the anchor. He brings the required charisma, energy, and style to the role, which might have otherwise been boring. His timing is perfect as the comic relief. The action scenes are well-designed, matching the style of Pawan Kalyan.
Sreeleela plays the role of the bubbly love interest. Though she suits the role, the character itself does not bring anything new. Her dancing scenes seem wasted.
Raashi Khanna makes a presence during the first half, after which she simply vanishes. Her role does not leave any impression.
Coming to the other actors, R. Parthiban does a good job as the antagonist, though the character itself does not bring any depth. Rao Ramesh, et al., have done well in the small roles assigned to them.
What works
The screen presence of Pawan Kalyan forms the main strength of the movie ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh.’ He brings the required style to the role, which might have otherwise been boring. There are many good scenes, and the comic scenes are well-designed, especially during the first half. There are two good songs from Devi Sri Prasad, which have come out well. The second half of the movie has moved at a slightly better pace than the first half.
What doesn’t
The biggest problem with this film is the outdated presentation. The director, Harish Shankar, seems to be following outdated formulas, which were successful years ago. The story is conventional and predictable, with all the elements of a commercial film.
The film’s pace is rushed, especially in the first 30 minutes. The emotional scenes do not have the desired impact. The biggest problem with this film is the absence of proper character development, especially with reference to the supporting cast and the villain. The subplots and social aspects seem forced.
Personal take
‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’ received mixed reactions from moviegoers and critics. The film does have some entertaining scenes, thanks to the presence of Pawan Kalyan. However, there is nothing new or exciting about the story. If you’re a fan of the star, you can enjoy some scenes.
Verdict
Recommended only for die-hard fans, this film might not appeal to viewers looking for novelty or strong storytelling.
