Vaa Vaathiyaar box office collection day 1: Karthi’s Pongal special release Tamil action comedy film “Vaa Vaathiyaar“, which was released in the theatres on 14th January, 2026, on the occasion of Pongal. Amid the festive season and Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan being postponed, the film failed to benefit and earned an estimated decent amount of over ₹ 1 crore at the Indian box office.

According to the market tracker Sacnilk.com report, Vaa Vaathiyaar earned an estimated ₹ 1.5 crore net (till 11 PM) on the opening day at the domestic box office and is targeting to conclude the opening day in the range of ₹ 1.5-2 crores net. This opening is nearly 86% lower compared to Sivakarthikeyan’s Pongal release, Parasakthi, which recorded a ₹12.5 crore net opening.

Budget & Box Office Outlook
It’s worth adding that Vaa Vaathiyaar was made around a budget of ₹ 10-15 crores. To recover the budget amount, it needs to witness a solid boost at the box office post festive season.
