Vadh 2 Movie Review (2026): Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta’s “Vadh 2“, directed by Jaspal Singh Sandhu, is built on the moral and emotional foundation of its predecessor while carving its own identity. The film tries to blend drama and mystery, and it focuses less on suspense and more on human vulnerability, systemic failures, and ethical dilemmas. Vadh 2 has a runtime of 2 hours and 11 minutes, and the story is well crafted, which allows it to unfold gradually and prioritises character depth over dramatic spectacle.

Vadh 2 Plot
Vadh 2 revisits Shambhunath “Shambhu” Mishra (Sanjay Mishra) and Manju (Neena Gupta) in a reimagined reality. Shambhu is now a widowed policeman who is struggling financially. On the other hand, Manju is struggling as she is serving a life sentence in prison. Despite their separation, the two remain emotionally connected, and they are still hoping for a future together.
The narrative then takes us inside a prison system that is dominated by unofficial power structures. Keshav (Akshay Dogra), who is a politically influential inmate, is the one who controls major privileges and manipulates authority. To put an end to the jail politics, the new officer, Prakash Singh (Kumud Mishra), tries to enforce discipline. This leads to an increase in tensions, which is eventually followed by Keshav’s disappearance. A year later, the discovery of his decomposed body reopens the case, and this prompts officer Ateet Singh (Amitt K Singh) to dig deeper into a web of secrets.

Themes and Social Commentary
Vadh 2’s narrative is very sharp, and it looks to examine broader social realities. The film is the perfect portrayal of prison hierarchies, normalized corruption, caste bias, and systemic exploitation. Part 2 of the film doesn’t really present clear heroes and villains, but it shows individuals who are shaped by fear, pressure, and survival instincts.
Cast Performances and Direction
- Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta continued to show their class, as they have delivered standout performances that are filled with authenticity and emotional weight. Their chemistry feels natural.
- Kumud Mishra has also done a fantastic job, as he made a strong impression despite limited screen time, and Amitt K Singh provides a steady presence as the investigating officer.
- Akshay Dogra was good too, but he lacked the depth that was needed in his character.
- Jaspal Singh Sandhu’s direction remains controlled and focused, ensuring the narrative stays character-driven rather than sensational.
Positive Points

The film’s biggest strength lies in its performances. Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta are truly the stars of the movie. They have shown their experience and brought remarkable depth and vulnerability to their roles. The writing is thoughtful and grounded. The writing looks to tackle prison politics, ethical conflicts, and social realities with maturity. Its slow-burn storytelling was necessary, as it allows characters and emotions to evolve naturally, and this made the narrative feel authentic and immersive.

Negative Points
Though the slow pacing was needed, it may not appeal to viewers who are expecting a fast-paced thriller. There are supporting characters in the form of Kumud Mishra, who feel underutilized and leave scope for further exploration. At times, the mystery element takes a backseat to the emotional narrative, and this reduces tension for audiences who are looking for a conventional crime drama.
Final Verdict
All in all, Vadh 2 is less about solving a murder and more about the moral compromises people make to survive. Vadh 2 is supported by strong factors like strong performances, nuanced writing, and a tender emotional core.
