Varun Dhawan’s Baby John passed by CBFC: Kalees directed and wrote the script for the Hindi action entertainer Baby John, which features Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh (in her first Hindi film), Wamiqa Gabbi, Zara Zyanna, Jackie Shroff, & Salman Khan (Cameo), and is set to roar on the big screen from Christmas Day, 25th December 2024. 9 days earlier (16th December) from the grand debut, the film passed by the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) and was awarded a U/A certificate after modifying three violent scenes.
It’s a remake of Atlee’s directorial and written 2016 superhit Tamil film, Theri; this time, alongside mass appeal and an attractive star-studded cast, Atlee is also associated with the team as a producer with Jyoti Deshpande, Murad Khetani, and Priya Atlee.

As per the reputed news portal Bollywood Hungama’s exclusive report, the Examining Committee (EC) of the CBFC awarded the U/A certificate after 3 modifications. The duration of the opening disclaimer was increased, and they were also instructed to add a line by extending the disclaimer that the movie has no connection with a political figure or entity. Side by side, a voiceover and test must be added, which tells the child artist’s performance has been as per the existing guidelines, continuing that a consent letter has also been submitted to the censor board.
The EC censored 2 dialogues; the first one is ‘Phule‘ was muted in a dialogue, which referred to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule; on the other hand, the word Lal Bahadur Shastri word in another scene was replaced with an unspecified term.
And last but not least, EC modified 4 visuals: a scene where a character kicks a ‘kalash’ (pot), modified, following that, a visual character, which is set on fire, the scene reduced by 50%, a close gunshot also modified, and a character, who is tapping cigarette buds on the face of another portrayal, has been modified. The makers have also been instructed to submit an AWBI (Animal Welfare Board of India) certificate.
After overcoming all the formalities, the much-anticipated film received a green signal from the CBFC with the U/A certification and also got the approval of 161.35 minutes [2 hours, 41 minutes, 35 seconds] of theatrical runtime for India.

The action entertainer was helmed and the script was written by Kalees; the cinematography was handled by Kiran Koushik, edited by Ruben, and the music was composed by Thaman S. The film is all set to hit the big screens on 25th December, under the banners of Jio Studios, Cine1 Studios, Vipin Agnihotri Films, and A for Apple Productions.
