Viduthalai part 2 box office collection day 1: The talented Vetrimaaran helmed and penned the highly anticipated PAN Indian periodic crime thriller Viduthalai Part 2, the sequel to 2023’s critically and commercially successful Viduthalai Part 1, which debuted at the box office yesterday, on 20th December, coincidentally during Christmas week. Following the prequel, this time also, Vetrimaaran’s work was applauded by the audience and critics, side by side on the reputed news portal IMDb, it achieved a notable 8.9 rating, based on 5,765 individual reviews, which attracts the audience to experience this masterpiece on big screens.
As per the latest box office update, the thriller opens with a good score, especially the original version in Tamil collection, beating 2024’s 2nd biggest-grosser Indian film in 2024, Kalki 2898 AD‘s opening day Tamil score of Rs 4.5 Cr, and becomes the top Tamil net opener film in 2024.

Soori and Vijay Sethupathi and others featuring the crime thriller on the opening day kick off the box office journey roughly with a Rs 7 Cr net in India; out of the score alone, the Tamil version collection is around Rs 6.6 Cr net, which remarkably exceeds the prequel Viduthalai Part – 1’s opening day score of Rs 3.85 Cr.
Now it’s become the 10th top opening Tamil film in the running year 2024, just behind the latest release, the box office monster Pushpa 2: The Rule‘s Tamil version opening day score (Rs 7.7 Cr). The film has the potential to score double-digit numbers on the weekend, Saturday & Sunday; if it can do the same, the end of the weekend collection will smoothly go very close to the Rs 30 Cr mark.
