Performances
Sangeeth Sobhan excels with his natural comic timing and acting skills. His role injects life into the movie, especially in the second half. However, he may end up becoming a one-hit wonder in comedies unless he attempts a variety of genres. Nayan Sarika’s performance is average. She doesn’t have a chance to show her true talent.
Getup Srinu and Vennela Kishore, as supporting cast, try their best to make the audience laugh with the over-the-top writing. Veteran actors like Brahmaji, Tanikella Bharani, and Ashish Vidyarthi appear in significant roles but are not utilized properly.
Technical Aspects
The technical aspects of the movie are a mixed bag. The music composition by Anudeep Dev is a major letdown with unimpressive songs and a too-loud background score.
On the brighter side, the cinematography by Raju Edurolu is appreciable, especially in the second half. The fort set and production values by Pink Elephant Pictures are impressive.
The editing by Anwar Ali is good, as the movie runs at a brisk pace without any lag.
Positives
- Sangeeth Sobhan’s performance
- Comedy sequences
- Impressive fort set and production values
Negatives
- Predictable and clichéd storyline
- Disappointing first half
- Background score
- Disappointing climax

Detailed Analysis
The movie “Rakasa” is based on an interesting premise but lacks originality. The premise of breaking blind beliefs in a village is old and seems to have been heavily influenced by previous films. The execution is also similar to old fantasy adventure films.
The second half of the movie has some interesting moments too. The adventure scenes in the fort are quite interesting. Sobhan’s comedy is another positive point in the movie. However, the movie lacks consistency.
The biggest disadvantage of the movie is the climax. The villain is given a backstory that is too common. The movie could have had a strong climax but chose a common narrative instead.
Final Verdict
Overall, the movie Raakaasa is a fantasy-comedy film with a few funny moments but not a fresh cinematic experience. The movie has a few interesting moments in the second half but lacks a strong storyline.
Bottom Line: A routine entertainer with a few funny moments. Watch it if you want a light-hearted movie with a common narrative.
