Karuppu Box Office Collection Day 1: The Tamil superstar Suriya made a thunderous comeback at the box office with “Karuppu“, after overcoming the multiple hurdles during release, finally hit theatres worldwide on May 15, 2026. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film was simultaneously also released in Telugu, and collaboratively, the film registered a staggering ₹14 crore net, and the Tamil version emerged as one of the biggest openers in 2026.

As reported by the reputed market tracker Sacnilk.com, Karuppu has managed an outstanding ₹14.40 crore net at the domestic 4,891 shows. The Tamil version leads with an exceptional ₹12 crore net across 3,448 shows and secured the 2nd spot among top Tamil openers in 2026 so far, just behind Parasakthi (₹12.50 crore). The Telugu version accumulated ₹2.40 crore across 1,443 shows.

The massive opening of Karuppu, despite multiple hurdles, helped it to outperform several recent Kollywood releases. The Suriya, Trisha Krishnan, and Balaji pivotal-featuring film reportedly was made with a budget of ₹130 crore, backed by SR Prabhu and SR Prakash Babu’s Dream Warrior Pictures. After this solid opening, the film now needs to register an excellent weekend jump to achieve box office success.
