Ramayana Controversy Deepens: Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film “Ramayana” is embroiled in further controversy as the Shri Ramlila Mahasangh demands a special preview screening before its release. The organisation is concerned that certain scenes in the film might not resonate with the Hindu epic and might hurt the religious sentiments if it is directly released in the theatres.
Shri Ramlila Mahasangh Seeks Special Screening
The Shri Ramlila Mahasangh president, Arjun Kumar, has reportedly written to the filmmakers informing them about their demand for a special screening. As per reports, Kumar stated that they completely support the film but requested that the filmmakers give a preview screening of the film so that they can understand if the film’s contents resonate with the original epic or not. He further said that they were not satisfied with the trailer, as it lacked the feeling of the story along with the costumes, which do not match with the original ones.
Furthermore, he added that if the filmmakers conduct a preview screening, then the committee will give their feedback to them before its public release.
Warning of the Protests over Alleged Inaccuracies
The organisation warned that if the film is directly released and in case it has inaccuracies, then they might take it upon themselves to organise agitations outside the theatre screens in various cities. Arjun Kumar even stated that a similar incident happened with the film Adipurush, where the filmmaker took liberties with the story, which led to negative responses from the audience.
Although the organisation has allegedly received information regarding the questionable scenes in the film, it still does not know which particular segment it is. They have asked the filmmakers to remove all the scenes that might hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindus both in the country and abroad.

Star Cast and Release Date of Ramayana
Apart from the controversies, the film’s release is also creating a huge talk in the industry. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sitaji, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, Yash as Ravan, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi.
Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious project Ramayana will be released as a two-part franchise. While part 1 is slated to release in Diwali on 6 November 2026, part 2 will be out in Diwali 2027.
