Daayra Day 1 Box Office Collection: The National Film Award winner director Meghna Gulzar’s latest delivery, “Daayra“, featuring Kareena Kapoor and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles, was released this Friday, on September 18. Despite garnering majorly positive reviews, the film debuted at the Indian box office with a low figure, over ₹1 crore. The hard-hitting police procedural struggled to pull in mainstream crowds, though it reportedly released over 700 cinemas.
Daayra Day 1 Box Office Collection
According to the official report, the Vineet Jain & Dhaval Gada financed crime thriller film Daayra kicked off the Indian box office journey with a poor ₹1.15 crore net. The morning and afternoon shows are performed poorly on the first day, but the evening onward shows performance reflects an encouraging trend, which indicates that the film is expected to witness a strong spike on the weekdays.
On the other hand, the industry tracker Sacnilk reported that Daayra netted only ₹1 crore across 2,283 domestic shows, which placed the film as the 24th top Hindi opening movie among the 2026 releases (so far), just behind Main Vaapas Aaunga (₹1 crore).
As per the official announcement, Daayra will witness an impressive spike on Saturday and Sunday, driven by the BOGO (Buy One and Get One Free) offer.
Opening Weekend Expectations
The opening-day box office trend indicates that Daayra’s first weekend net figure could go beyond ₹6 crore. The momentum may be enhanced by the BOGO offer, which might slightly fuel this push. Daayra was made with an estimated budget of ₹50-60 crore. After opening with a low number, the film will need to maintain notable momentum throughout its opening week to recover its costs.
