Baai Tujhyapayi Story
Baai Tujhyapayi is set in 1990, where we are taken to the fictional village of Vadgaav, which is loaded with a deeply patriarchal community that worships the deity Vasaai. The temple of Vasaai can be accessed only by girls who haven’t reached puberty. It has been believed that the woman who menstruates or any man who enters is doomed to die within a fortnight. In this rigid society, girls are married off immediately after their first period, and they are even forbidden from pursuing education.
Ahilya (Sajiri Joshi) is the heart of the story. She is a bright young girl who has a dream of becoming a doctor. But her journey becomes challenging as soon as she experiences her first period. Though she hides it from the village to continue her studies, this opens a door for a deeply emotional journey in Baai Tujhyapayi.

A Cinematic Metaphor for Patriarchal Control
