Chandu Champion Plot Analysis
The young Murlikant (Kartik Aaryan) reams of winning a medal for the country in the Olympics, but in childhood, after achieving these high ambitions, everyone makes fun of him. But Murli was never demotivated; he was inspired by legendary wrestler Dara Singh, and from childhood he started training himself. In adolescence, he continuously works and prepares himself for wrestling by watching others in the arena, from where he also starts learning small, small strikes. One day in his village’s local competition, he took part in the central stage, and without any professional training, only based on the small tricks learned earlier, he successfully defeated his opponent, from where his journey of wrestling started.
After the fight, he was forced to leave the place. Finally, he catches a train, and from there, his life starts changing. He met a man who suggested that if he wanted to be a wrestler and take part in the Olympics, he should join the Army. The strict trainer in the Army, Tiger Ali’s (Vijay Raaz), effort converted Murlikant into a trained boxer from a wrestler; not only that, he became a professional boxer. The first half improves the plot and transforms a rough Murli into a mature sportsperson and a soldier.
And from the second half, the emotional, struggling moments started when the 1965 Indo-Pak war took place, and the most heart-touching moment was when Murlikant was hit by the nine bullets in the war and was in a coma for two years. But he didn’t give up; overcoming many challenges, he became India’s first Paralympic gold medalist and achieved an individual gold medal in the 1972 Summer Paralympics in Heidelberg, Germany.
Chandu Champion Movie Review: Kartik Aaryan’s Emotional Depth is More Attractive Than the Physical Transformations
Director and writer Kabir Khan delivers skillful and researchful work. The most notable thing is that not a single moment of the direction or writing looks overboard. Along with the other writers, Sumit Arora and Sudipto Sarkar also deserve appreciation. Prominent actor Kartik Aaryan delivers a once-in-a-lifetime performance in the venture, especially the physical transformation, which is noteworthy and shows how passionate and dedicated he is. The young version of Murlikant lent strong support, and simultaneously, the other character also did a good job. Sudeep Chatterjee’s cinematography was phenomenal. Overall, Kartik Aaryan-fronted sports drama explores every chapter of Legend Murlikant Petkar and is crafted beautifully.
