Court-State Vs A Nobody plot analysis
The Telugu courtroom drama set in Visakhapatnam, in the year of 2013, follows Mettu Chandrashekar (Harsh Roshan), a.k.a. Chandu, who leads his life by doing various jobs and whose father worked as a watchman. He meets with Jabilli (Sridevi Apalla), a student from a reputed family in the area; due to a cross-path incident, both of them started conversing with each other on phones.
Mangapathi (Shivaji), uncle of Jabilli, a caste-obsessed extremist who cannot see beyond his pride, introduced Jabilli in Chandu’s house. Angry Mangapathi gets Chandu arrested and files a case of POCSO (The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012) against him. As the case takes a strong turn, Chandu’s family seeks help from lawyers, Surya Teja (Priyadarshi), assistant of one of the senior advocates in Vijayawada Mohan Rao (Sai Kumar). How will Chandu come out of this false case?
Court-State Vs A Nobody movie review: Gripping courtroom drama
The debutante director Ram Jagadeesh deserves appreciation for crafting this meaningful and gripping courtroom drama, well presented, notably in the courtroom sequences. Actor Priyadarshi well portrayed his character; on the other hand, Shivaji’s portrayal of Mangapathi as a caste-driven and cruel man is what grabbed the special attraction among the characters. Simultaneously, other characters are also well portrayed.
The courtroom drama film sheds light on an important subject of POCSO, set in 2013; the director overlooks a few props and locations, such as Ola bikes and the Kailasagiri ropeway, which were not presented that time but shown in the film. As a serious drama, these errors should have been avoided. The first half of the film was less engaging than the second half; the initial teenage love story might not appeal to everyone. The work of all the casts is undoubtedly excellent, but a few characters, like Sai Kumar, Surabhi Prabhavati, and Roshini Molleti’s portrayals, the director fails to use their full potential, especially the depth of emotion.
Baap of Movies Verdict
Overall, Priyadarshi, Shivaji, and Harsh Roshan’s impressive portrayal, based on the important subject of POCSO, is a well-crafted, gripping courtroom drama. In the second half, remarkably in the courtroom portion, with the outstanding emotional depth, BGM, and phenomenal dialogue delivery, it successfully grips the viewers. Here is a great opportunity for those movie lovers who love legal drama with a solid plot to experience this masterpiece in their nearby theatres.
