Dev and Rana Sarkar‘s joint production film, Dhumketu, almost a decade delayed due to fallout between its co-producers, arrived on the silver screens this Independence Day weekend.
On the opening day it was kicked off with the biggest Bengali opening number in 2025 so far, ₹ 1.11 Cr net, following remarkable hold racking of ₹ 3.14 Cr net over the last 3 days. On day 4 (1st Sunday), it saw a 30.26% boost back and minted the third biggest single-day number since release, ₹ 0.99 Cr net, and introduced a total extended weekend domestic score of ₹ 4.13 Cr (as per Sacnilk.com). The film not only lived up to the hype, but also it’s gearing up to set new records at the Bengali box office.
