Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi-The Diamond Bazaar Twitter Review Out, streaming on Netflix Now
Heeramandi – The Diamond Bazaar Is The Royal Disappointment 👎
Rating – ⭐️⭐️
Sanjay Leela Bhansali added elegance, grace, poetry, dancing, singing and sets to this story, but amidst all this, he forgot to tighten the story.
Moin Baig gave this 14-page story to Bhansali 14 years ago, and since then there have been many unsuccessful attempts to get it made until @NetflixIndia approved it as a mega series.
The story of Heeramandi begins with two courtesan sisters Rehana and Mallika, where the elder sister snatches away Rehana’s children and Mallika snatches away her life, the royal palace and her throne in return. This enmity between sisters reaches out to the next generation, Faridan and Alam Beg.
The story includes Lajjo’s Betrayal in love, Bibbo’s Patriotism, Rehna’s daughter Faridan’s conspiracy to reclaim her inheritance, Mallika’s daughter Alam’s rebellion for love… All these tracks, which should have been arranged like separate dishes in a plate, but together it become like khichdi made from leftover vegetables in the kitchen.
Yes, during the Mujras of Heeramandi… you definitely get to see Bhansali’s Craftsman Ship. #SakalBan and #Azadi are the strongest tracks of this series. #TilasmiBahein has been ineffective during the series.
Brilliant cinematography and magnificent sets… are the biggest features of Heeramandi, but its impact is missing on the OTT format.
ManishaKoirala as Mallikajan is the life of Hiramandi.
The track and performance of #AditiRaoHydari as Bibbojan is good.
Even after the double role of mother-daughter as Rehana and Faridan, #SonakshiSinha’s character was not strong enough to leave an impact.RichaChadha did not have much opportunity in a small role.
#SharminSehgal, who played Alambagh, got her opportunity decorated in a plate, but she could not shine in Hiramandi.
SanjeedaSheikh became the victim of the most awkward character, playing Waheeda. Perhaps the biggest proof of MisCasting.
The male actors of Hiramandi are completely wasted. #TahaShahBadusshatried his best, but his track did not work.
ShekharSuman has 4 scenes in the 8 episode series, #AdhyayanSuman remains ineffective even after playing the double role of father and son. #FardeenKhan, hoping for his comeback with Bhansali after 14 years, had nothing to do in the show.
Heeramandi worth Rs. 200 crores is the Sheesh Mahal of Bhansali’s dreams, which is beautiful in appearance but does not have any life in it.
This biggest series of Indian OTT has turned into the biggest disappointment.
Heeramandi is a disappointment! I was literally so excited for it but turned out to be a borefest

Biggest disappointment #SanjayLeelaBhansali
