The 18+ suspense crime thriller is set in 1986 and 1991 in Hwaseong, based on the true story of South Korea’s first confirmed serial murders. It follows two detectives, Park Doo-man (Song Kang-ho) and Seo Tae-yoon (Kim Sang-Kyung), who are investigating a serial rape and murder case in a rural area. But both of the detectives’ different approaches and personalities make this investigation difficult and frustrating. It also spotlights the 1980s socio-political climate of South Korea.
It was internationally applauded by the moviegoers and critics, following the box office success with a 131-minute (2 hours and 11 minutes) runtime. It is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video.
