Jatadhara Plot
The story follows Shiva (Sudheer Babu). Shiva is a rationalist ghost hunter who uses gadgets to track supernatural energies. His beliefs are not approved by Manish (Avasarala Srinivas) and his team from the Indian Paranormal Society. Things get very interesting when Shiva meets Sithara (Divya Khosla). Sithara is a woman who was initially mistaken for a spirit by Shiva. Shiva’s recurring nightmares involve a mysterious baby, and this leads him to uncover a dark secret tied to ancient rituals and the terrifying Dhan Pishachini, played by Sonakshi Sinha.
The film’s first half is very promising, as it perfectly balances mystery, folklore, and romance. And the second half takes us deep into horror and religious symbolism. Yes, there are some predictable moments, but the Jatadhara narrative manages to sustain tension until the end.
Jatadhara Stars Performances
Jatadhara is loaded with some of the fiery performances that breathe life into the eerie world. Sudheer Babu plays Shiva, and he was perfectly loaded with confidence. Sudheer was effortless while acting the role of a man torn between logic and spiritual curiosity. Sonakshi Sinha has delivered one of her boldest performances yet. She was terrifying and graceful.
Divya Khossla was a disappointment, as she failed to bring warmth as Sitara. Shilpa Shirodkar was the highlight of Jatadhara, as she shone as the greedy Shobha. She gracefully played the role of a woman whose lust for money is incomparable. Supporting actors like Naveen Neni, Jhansi Laxmi, and Rajeev Kankala add depth, and they together ensured the film never feels hollow.

Direction, Music, and Technical Aspects
Directors Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal were working with an average script, but they created a well-balanced cinema in Jatadhara. They deserve credit for attempting something new in a genre that is often plagued by clichés. The film doesn’t rely solely on jump scares, but it focuses on building psychological tension and spiritual curiosity. The screenplay is uneven at times, but it does give the hint of thought-provoking commentary on the eternal struggle between faith and reason.
Rajeev Raj’s haunting background score was good, as it complements the film’s mood beautifully. Songs like the reimagined “Pallu Latke” in Jatadhara add nostalgia, but they slightly disrupt the eerie rhythm of the film. The cinematography was good. A few moments, like the display of dark mansions, misty forests, and ritualistic setups, are beautifully captured to enhance the supernatural experience.
Final Verdict – A Fresh Take on Indian Horror
All in all, Jatadhara is something new in this horror genre. Though the film has some predictable narrative and a poor screenplay, it somehow succeeds in presenting a fresh and intelligent spin on horror. Jatadhara may not terrify hardcore fans, but it will surely give the viewers a rare perspective of spirituality. The performances, direction, and background score work well together, and that has made Jatadhara a one-time theatrical watch worth experiencing.
