The Bollywood diva Kangana Ranaut is making headlines for her directorial, written, and lead, featuring the political, biopic, drama “Emergency,” based on the darkest chapter of the history of the Independent Indian, the 21 months of Emergency, from 1975-1977, declared by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. After many postponements, it was scheduled to release on 6th September, but as per the latest report once again, makers decided to push the release date.
Why does Kangana Ranaut’s emergency once again postponed from September 6th?
The Ranaut, Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, and Satish Kaushik pivotal featuring biopic drama Emergency’s filming was wrapped up in January 2023, followed by makers initially announced to release in between October and November 2023, which was re-scheduled on 14 June 2024, following that once again it was postponed on 6th September 2024, due to the Lok Sabha Elections, and as per the latest Bollywood Hungama report, it once again postponed.
As per the 31st August report by Bollywood Hungama that Punjab and Haryana High Court had a hearing over a case against this film, fielded by Gurinder Singh and Jagmohan Singh, who are residents of Mohali. The reason behind it (the case), the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) approved the film, which was not following the rules and regulations of the respected board, and it needed to be provocked.
As per the Hindustan Times report, additional solicitor general of India Satya Pal Jain, who was the part of this censor (Emergency) team, told the respected court, “It (the certification) has not been granted as of now. It will be granted as per rules and regulations, as applicable in this case. If anyone has any grievance, the same can be sent to the board.”
Will these postponements impact Emergency box office performance?
Due to the many postponements, the anticipation and buzz around the film will decrease, unfortunately, which will impact the box office performance. But we are still keeping hope for the best: when the film will hit the theatres, or may the makers will release it straight on the OTT platform.
