The gripping legal drama thriller set in 1919 revolves around the horrific genocide of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre by the British General Reginald Dyer (Simon Paisley Day) on 13th April; when he was ordered to shoot at the huge peaceful gathering protesting the Rowlatt Act (which gives power to the police to arrest any person without any reason). The Britishers are claiming it is a violent riot, but the brave activist Kirpal Singh’s son, who is determined to bring the truth of this genocide, who lost his mother and daughter in the brutal incident. But when he comes to know the news that Dyar is acquitted, he, choosing death, slits his wrist.
Following that, Sir Sankaran Nair (Akshay Kumar), a loyal lawyer towards Britishers, starts questioning the British Empire for a false narrative. On the other hand, Adv. Neville McKinley (R.Madhavan) was hired by the British Empire to battle against Nair. What challenges are waiting for Akshay Kumar and his co-counsel Dilreet Gill’s (Ananya Panday) portrayals that will hook you from beginning to end?
Kesari Chapter 2 Hindi movie review
The powerful plot is the soul of the film; the narrative fully justifies the untold phase of the Indian freedom struggle, notably the second half of the film, which is hard-hitting, where the courtroom drama takes centre stage, making it beyond the film. Akshay Kumar’s delivery becomes one of the epic one, as a justice Sir Sankaran Nair, in his filmography. On the other hand, R. Madhavan as Adv. Neville McKinley brings the intensity to the pick, and Ananya Panday surprised everyone with her perfectly matched character portrayal, Dilreet Gill.
This is Karan Singh Tyagi’s well-executed delivery, with the emotions landing with precision; he also penned the notable screenplay with Amritpal Singh Bindra. Sumit Saxena’s dialogues make it gripping, and Shashwat Sachdev’s music guaranteed goosebumps, the BGM enhances the emotional depth.
If we take a look at the negative aspects, in a few sequences the Hindi spoken by the Britishers is not properly clear to understand. And the unfolding of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre portion fails slightly to impact what it deserves.
Baap of Movies Verdict on Kesari Chapter 2
