Andre Russell Retires from IPL and Becomes KKR’s Power Coach: After the Caribbean player Pollard, he first showed his loyalty to the MI club. Now, Andre Russell does the same. Andre Russell, one of the best scorers on the KKR team, is leaving the IPL 2026 after being released from the team. He played for KKR for 12 years. With the team, he won 3 IPLs. It was reported in 2026 that Russell would not be returning to the franchise for IPL 2026. Russell then announced his retirement and became the power coach for KKR for IPL 2026.
Russell announced the retirement and Power Coach news on his Instagram account. He says,
Hi KKR fans, Dre Rus here. I just want to give you guys big news: I’ve made a decision to retire from the IPL. I’ll still be active playing in various leagues all around the world and for all the other KKR franchises.” I had some amazing times and great memories hitting sixes and winning games. MVP and all those things but.
When I made this decision, I just felt like, “Yes, this is the best decision.” I don’t want to fade out; I want to leave a legacy, and it’s best to retire when fans ask why.
You know we are part of the Instagram world, so when you’re going through your feed, you keep seeing yourself in different jerseys, and I’m like, “Hmmm.” I look weird in that jersey, and it’s just those thoughts that have been going through my head.
I had a few sleepless nights There’ve been a lot of conversation you know, between me and Mr. Venky Mysore and also Mr. Sharukh Khan about another chapter in my IPL journey, and they have shown me respect and love.
They appreciate whatever I’ve been doing on the field, and to be in a setup where I’m familiar matters to me a lot, so Kolkata, I’ll be back. I’m here now just to say that. I’ll be a part of the KKR support staff, so when I heard that name, you know, coming from Mr. Venky, I said, “You know, POWER conversation, COACH, hmmm.” That describes Dre Rus.
