Positive Aspects
- One of the best things about this TV show is its sincerity. It is not cynical and overly dramatic but focused on family values, community and hope.
- The cinematography is just incredible. Wonderful sunsets, vast prairie shots, and beautiful lighting contribute to creating that nostalgic feeling of the novels.
- Also worth mentioning is the well-thought-out expansion of the world through the creation of the Native American viewpoint and supporting characters who add to the emotional background but do not distract from the Ingalls family’s story.
- The music score by Dan Romer makes the emotional component more intense, allowing you to feel both the happiness and sadness of characters in any episode.
Negative Aspects
- Despite all the positives, the tempo of the TV series is slowing down in the middle episodes when the storyline takes longer than necessary to be revealed.
- Those people looking for an honest historical drama may find this show too idealistic since even though it deals with important topics, it always stays family-friendly.
- Some of the supporting characters need more attention and development.
