Taran Adarsh’s Review On Maidaan
#OneWordReview… #Maidaan: POWER-PACKED.
Rating: 4 stars out of 5
#Maidaan is, without doubt, one of the finest sports-based films made in #India… Captivating second half, brilliant finale and an award-worthy act by #AjayDevgn are its biggest strengths… Fitting tribute to #TeamIndia and Coach #SARahim by Team #Maidaan… STRONGLY RECOMMENDED! #MaidaanReview
It takes time to get into the world of #Maidaan… First half is strictly okay, with few striking moments, but it’s the post-interval portions that change the graph completely… The second half abounds in dramatic highs and goosebump moments, while the penultimate match and finale elevates the narrative to an all-time high.
#BadhaaiHo director #AmitSharma is a proficient storyteller, he proves his credentials yet again with #Maidaan. His handling of dramatic portions deserves brownie points. Also, the simmering tension between #AjayDevgn, #GajrajRao and #RudranilGhosh is handled with utmost maturity, without going overboard.
Hiccups? The first half could’ve been sharper in terms of writing… Also the run time could’ve been controlled… Besides, #ARRahman’s music is plain mediocre, although the maestro compensates the shortcoming with an exhilarating BGM.
#AjayDevgn shines in a role that only an actor of calibre could’ve essayed with flourish. He’s the soul of #Maidaan… #GajrajRao is top notch, while #RudranilGhosh is superb.
#Maidaan is a word of mouth film, do not expect fireworks at the #BO initially… Urban centres should perform best, in fact the bigger centres will drive its biz.

Sumit Kadel’s Review On Maidaan
Rating: 4 stars out of 5
#Maidaan emerges as a CLASS APART sports drama, driven by the stellar performance of #AjaDevgn, breathtaking cinematography, and an electrifying climax lasting 25 minutes.Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, the film celebrates the illustrious era of Indian football during 1955-1965, marked by remarkable achievements at the Asian Games and Olympics.
Devgn’s portrayal of Syed Abdul Rahim is undeniably one of his career BEST ACT. His portrayal exudes intensity and passion, particularly in the emotionally charged final moments of the film, leaving everyone teary eyed and moved.
#GajrajRao as a newspaper head lent very good support, he ensures audience hates him and that’s the accomplishment of his performance. Entire ensemble cast also delivered a good performance though i feel players casting could’ve been more better.
The cinematography of “Maidaan” deserves special mention for its ability to capture the essence of the era and the exhilarating atmosphere of football matches[ VFX is TOP NOTCH ]. The finale match scenes are particularly gripping, featuring several awe-inspiring moments that’ll receive thunderous claps and whistles in theaters.
However, the film is not without its flaws. The pacing issues, especially in the first half, hinder the impact of the narrative. With some trimming, particularly of unnecessary sequences, the film could have maintained a tighter pace.
Despite few shortcomings, “Maidaan” remains a very well-made film that is likely to resonate with audiences, especially in multiplexes of major cities.
Its celebration of India’s footballing glory and Devgn’s remarkable performance make it a compelling watch for both sports enthusiasts and moviegoers alike.
On box office front it can have a long run and may emerge another WINNER for Ajay Devgn &

Himesh Mankad’s Review On Maidaan
The last 45 minutes of #Maidaan keeps you on the edge of your seat and make you experience adrenaline rush that’s missing in most sport drama’s in modern times.
AmitSharma comes up with a sport film that’s laced with strong emotions, thrilling moments and ample of drama. #Maidaan has one of the best representations of sports on the spectacle as the football matches are shot with perfection, making you root for the win.
The first half does require a little trimming due to the pacing but the film rises to glory in the second half. #ARRahman’s background score elevates the impact of the film, especially the matches. The cinematography & production values are top notch as one can sense grandeur in every frame.
Some of the best scenes include – the photo-op sequence, India vs Australia Press Con, the Pre Interval Block, the fight for Jakartha & the extended 30 minute climax.
Talking of performances, #AjayDevgn yet again proves why he is among the best actors around in the Indian Film Industry. He underplays himself with a subdued body language and lifts the film on his shoulders. Watch out for his act in the emotional moments – PHENOMENAL! #Priyamani is promising in her part and brings about a smile in the attempt to speak broken english. #GajrajRao is fantastic as the negative force and steals the limelight with the breakdown scene in climax. Every other actor is cast well for their respective parts.
Overall, the golden era of Indian Football under #SyedAbdulRahim deserves to be seen & celebrated on the big screen.
Maidaan has enough merits in it to record a healthy trend at the box office, especially in multiplexes and should aim to benefit the absolute open run it has through the summer.
