Nishaanchi Plot Overview
Nishaanchi tells us the story of Bablu and Dablu, who are twin brothers who are portrayed with surprising depth by newcomer Aaishvary Thackeray. They are born to Manjari (Monika Panwar) and wrestler Jabardast (Vineet Kumar Singh). But their lives change as they both take drastically different paths after Ambika Prasad (Kumud Mishra) eliminates Jabardast inside prison.
Bablu grows under Ambika’s influence, and in no time, he is shaped into a gangster. However, Dablu is different, and he was raised by his righteous mother. This duality might give you a glimpse of classic Bollywood conflicts, and this makes the Nishaanchi plot very rich and layered.

Strong Performances:
The strongest takeaway from this Nishaanchi movie is the powerful performances. Aaishvary Thackeray was on his debut in a double role, and he offers two sharply distinct personalities with ease. Monika Panwar was good too, as she adds emotional strength. And Vedika Pinto’s journey from dance student to stage performer is handled with grace. Kumud Mishra adds unpredictability. Vineet Kumar Singh brings the grit that the viewers expect from a Kashyap world.
Engaging Backstories:
Every major character is well-crafted, and they have a great backstory. Manjari’s abandoned shooting career, Rinku’s struggle for survival, and Bablu’s slow descent into the underworld are very engaging. Kashyap’s signature style of using film references will win your heart.
The Kashyap Touch:
Anurag Kashyap has been the highlight of the show. He brings the crime, romance, humour, and revenge blended in classic Kashyap fashion. And it’s a very positive point that makes the film feel familiar and entertaining.
Where the Film Struggles
Dragging Length:
Nishaanchi is a good package, but its packaging is the major drawback. The first half moves predictably. But the second half slows down, as some sequences feel stretched beyond necessity.
Too Much Wasseypur Influence:
The film’s soul feels borrowed from Gangs of Wasseypur. Yes, it might connect with a lot of the audience, but some viewers might find it very repetitive. But the similarities, like quirky characters and rustic landscapes, feel very hard to miss. Sometimes, it plays like an affectionate homage. Other times, it feels like a repetitive echo.
With that being said, Nishaanchi is a good package that will keep you engaged throughout the show.
Final Verdict
All in all, with Nishaanchi, Anurag Kashyap has hit it out of the park thanks to his brilliant performance and casting. With the debutante in the main lead, Nishaanchi is the perfect combination of powerful performances, detailing, and emotional layers that make it worth watching. However, the dragging runtime and constant reminders of Wasseypur might bring it back, but it is still a good watch.
Nishaanchi delivers enough spark, heart, and cinematic punch that will keep viewers invested.
The film may not completely hit the bullseye, but it comes very close enough to be that film that qualifies as a gritty and engaging watch for lovers of desi crime dramas.
