The show looks to flip the current parenting norms as it places a single, divorced man at the centre of adoption. The show is led beautifully by the naturally hilarious Kunal Kemmu and backed by a capable ensemble.

Single Papa Plot
Single Papa follows a 30-year-old childish man, Gaurav Gehlot (Kunal Kemmu). Gaurav is still relying on his mother for everything and receives pocket money from his father like a teenager. His life takes a dramatic turn when he discovers a baby abandoned in his car soon after divorcing his wife, Aparna (Isha Talwar).
In a move that shocks his traditional Indian family, Gaurav decides to legally adopt the baby. This was then followed by a transformation of a dependent, clueless man-child into a responsible father. Along the way, Gaurav confronts sexist beliefs that question a man’s ability to nurture. He fights a challenging adoption process that is well led by the stern Romilla Nehra (Neha Dhupia), and he continues to battle his own immaturity as he learns to love and protect baby Amul.
The Single Papa premise is very interesting, as it offers ample emotional and comedic potential. But the writing stumbles. The humour misfires often, and the emotional beats arrive abruptly. Ultimately, the series doesn’t find a steady rhythm until midway through its six-episode run.

Single Papa Cast Performances
Kunal Kemmu is the show’s strongest pillar. He was good with his comic timing, expressive energy, and grounded vulnerability that elevates every scene he appears in. Even when the script wobbles, Kemmu keeps the series afloat.
Aisha Ahmed has sealed the show in her supporting role as a warm, funny, and effortlessly charming character. She has shown a very excellent chemistry opposite Kemmu.
Prajakta Koli in Single Papa is seen in the role of Gaurav’s sister, Namrata. She brings her signature charm and likeability and proves once again that she deserves her space in mainstream storytelling.
Neha Dhupia gets a small but solid arc as she plays the role of the no-nonsense CACA chairperson effectively.
On the contrary, Dayanand Shetty’s casting as Parbat Singh as the nanny feels misaligned. His rigid persona and screen image make it difficult to accept him in such a gentle role.
The rest of the cast, which includes Manoj Pahwa, Ayesha Raza Mishra, Suhail Nayyar, and Isha Talwar, do justice to their limited material.
