The Confrontation: Robbie Takes Brandis Hostage
The episode starts with Agent Brandis visiting the Prendergrast. He is here to question Maeve (Emilia Jones), as her fingerprints were found on a bucket that was tied to the kidnapping of young Sam (Ben Doherty). Maeve isn’t home. But her uncle Robbie is, and his quick instincts were enough time to invite a shocking turn.
Robbie takes Brandis hostage, and this forces him to drive deep into the wilderness. The things keep getting interesting, and episode 5 is not a typical crime-thriller chase but an emotionally layered exchange.
The Calm Before the Storm

As soon as the fraught conversation ended, Robbie let Brandis go, and this left him in a park where he could call for backup. However, the reprieve is short-lived. Brandis and his task force are not stopping as they continue their pursuit. They are following Robbie to a remote hunting cabin where he’s holed up with a duffel bag of cash, waiting for the Dark Hearts. Dark Hearts is a criminal organization that’s been haunting the storyline.
The episode’s pacing shifts dramatically, and as we reach the middle part, the threads begin converging. Now, Robbie prepares for a showdown because the FBI is closing in, and the Dark Hearts are approaching fast.
The Explosive Ending: A Stand-off by the Stream
As the episode ends, we see Brandis spotting Robbie by a woodland stream. He had his gun raised, and he shouted, “Robbie! Get on the ground!” However, as we did this, he unknowingly exposed both of them to the approaching Dark Hearts.
Robbie was startled and cornered, and he pointed his gun back at Brandis. The camera tightens on their faces, and we can feel the building chaos. The last words we hear are Brandis’s desperate cry, and they say, “It’s over!”
Episode 5 ends on the perfect note, and it has left fans wondering: Will Robbie pull the trigger, or will the Dark Hearts strike first?
Major Twist: The Mole Revealed
The standoff dominates the spotlight, but Episode 5 has also delivered a shocking twist. It’s revealed that Anthony Grasso (Fabien Frankel), a member of the task force, is the mole working for the Dark Hearts. The revelation was shocking, and it has upended previous assumptions. It is more shocking because Kathleen McGinty’s suspicious behavior last week turned out to be a red herring.
Grasso’s betrayal has added a new layer of danger as the task force unknowingly walked into a potential ambush. His secret alliance with the Dark Hearts led to Ray’s phone being stolen, and Cliff Browder (Raúl Castillo) is now framed.
What’s Next in Task Episode 6?

The next episode, which is directed by Salli Richardson-Whitfield, is expected to give new twists to Task. It will pick up from where Episode 5 left off. If both directors’ collaboration goes well, then we are all set for an episode worth remembering.
As the mole is already exposed, Task Episode 6 is going to be an explosive continuation of this tense and emotional saga.
