2. Aavesham (IMDB rating: 7.9)
Jithu Madhavan helmed and penned a Malayalam action comedy film that debuted in global theaters on April 11, under the banners Anwar Rasheed Entertainments and Fahadh Faasil and Friends. Stars joining forces with the venture are Fahadh Faasil, Hipzster, Mithun Jai Shankar, Roshan Shanavas, and Sajin Gopu in pivotal roles. The film revolves around three junior college students who became the victims of ragging.
For fear of this raging, they went to the gangster Ranga, who never raises his hand on anyone because his thunderous presence is enough to make one fearful. The 161-minute (2 hours and 41 minutes) runtime film is now available on Prime Video.
3. Laapataa Ladies (IMDB rating: 8.5)
Kiran Rao-directed Hindi comedy drama film was released on the silver screen on March 1, 2024; prior to the grand silver screen debut, it had its first premiere at the 48th annual Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, 2023, where it received immense applause from international critics. The star cast of the film are Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastava, Prabha Ranta, Abhay Dubey, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan in the pivotal roles.
It revolves around the story of a newly married couple who are coming back to their own home, but while traveling in the train, the bride was swapped with another newly married bride. How both couples will meet is worth watching. The 124-minute (2 hours and 4 minutes)-long film is now available on Netflix.
4. Article 370 (IMDB rating: 7.9)
The Aditya Suhas Jambhale-directed political action thriller was released on February 23, under the banners B62 Studios and Jio Studios, with Yami Gautam Dhar and Priyamani in the key roles, alongside Raj Arjun, Shivam Khajuria, and Vaibhav Tatwawadi, who also played important roles in the film. The film is set against the backdrop of the revocation of Article 370 in the Jammu and Kashmir region of India, based on the real event of 2019. The 158-minute (2 hours and 38 minutes)-wide venture is now available on Netflix India.
5. Maidaan (IMDB rating: 8)
This is one of the finest biographical sports drama films in Indian cinema based on Indian football, was helmed by National Award-winning director Amit Sharma; dialogue was penned by Ritesh Shah and Siddhant Mago; and the plot was written by Saiwyn Quadras, Akash Chawla, and Arunava Joy Sengupta. Ajay Devgn, Priyamani, and Gajraj Rao join forces in the film in crucial roles.
The inspiring biopic is based on the life story of Syed Abdul Rahim A.K.A., alias Rahim Saab, who is regarded as the architect of modern Indian football. Under his stewardship, India won two gold medals in the Asian Cup, played in the semifinals of the 1956 Summer Olympics (Melbourne), and more. It also got the title “Brazil of Asia.”
