‘The Dink’ Plot
The plot of the movie revolves around Dusty Boyd (Jake Johnson), a tennis prodigy who had to put an end to his successful career because of an unfortunate injury. Once famous for his nickname “The Hammer”, Dusty tries to relive his past glories while trying to win approval from his controlling and strict father and former coach Chuck. This happens until one day a doctor advises him to try out pickleball as a part of his therapy.
Despite being contemptuous towards this fast-growing sport at first, Dusty finds himself in a community where fun and connections matter more than fame. His interaction with Candace, Mary Steenburgen’s character, allows him to fight his insecurities.
