The storyline of Batwara 1947 has been taken from Syed Asghar Wajahat’s play named ‘Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai.’ The story is set in the Partition era and revolves around the journey of a Muslim family from Lucknow to Lahore post-1947. Their lives change as they come across a stubborn old Hindu woman, unwilling to vacate her old ancestral house, haveli.
