Malayalam films endeavor to dazzle the general audience by handling offbeat films, and the latest one on the list is 2018, which is inspired by a real event battling the 2018 Kerala flood. Helmed by Jude Anthony Joseph, the film is doing sensational business in the states of Kerala and is inching towards an unusual Rs 100 crore gross collection. Among the unusual responses to the first version in Malayalam across the nation, the film is now on kickstarter for the Hindi-dubbed version.

Spiritual appeal of Tovino Thomas to distributors for Malayalam film 2018
In describing the film, Tovino Thomas made a spiritual appeal to distributors and Hindi-neutral audiences for similar Malayalam films to get big releases first. “We are from a small state in the southern corner of India. Our residents are marking very good films. Our films, marking the meters, are released in a very small number of theaters.”
I desire to reach more dealers for the release of this Malayalam film, but we are not asking them to distribute it at Liberty or in our cinemas. Let them watch the film. If they appreciate it or if they are giving a proper release, it’ll be wonderful. After people watch it somewhere on social media, we often get appreciation, but it has no commercial value. It does none of us any good. As a result, please understand how difficult it is to push the film into theaters,”, he said.
The first version of the film was hitted in theaters on May 5, and within 5 days, it had collected around Rs. 40 crores worldwide, the biggest ever for Malayalam films. A huge achievement was acquired by the Malayalam film industry after the real fact-based movie was released.
